It is the first time since 2019 that Homestead-Miami Speedway has hosted championship weekend as Phoenix Raceway has been the site of the season-finale weekend since 2020.

The weekend will kick off with the Craftsman Truck Series championship race on Friday night, where Kaden Honeycutt and Layne Riggs will duke it out for the title. On Saturday, the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series circuit will have its championship race, with Justin Allgaier leading the points by a slight margin over Jesse Love and Corey Day.

The Cup Series championship race will conclude the weekend of racing. Entering Sunday, Kyle Larson is the odds-on favorite to win the championship with nearly a full-race lead over Christopher Bell and Denny Hamlin.

March 23, 2025 was the last time the NASCAR Cup Series raced at the Homestead-Miami Speedway. The Straight Talk Wireless 400 was the sixth race of the 2025 Cup Series season. So, who won that race?

It was Larson's second career Homestead win and first of three wins in the 2025 season, which ultimately ended with the driver of the No. 5 winning his second Cup Series championship at season's end.

This Sunday at Homestead, Larson is in prime position to win his third career Cup championship and second straight Cup title. The Hendrick Motorsports star leads Christopher Bell by 67 points and Denny Hamlin by 70 points, the only two other drivers who can mathematically beat him for the title.

Larson needs to earn nine points on Sunday at Homestead to secure the title. He can do that by either finishing 28th or higher without scoring stage points, or scoring eight total stage points.

Larson aims to become just the 11th driver in NASCAR Cup Series history to win three championships. The 34-year-old out of Elk Grove, California seeks to be the first back-to-back Cup champion since Jimmie Johnson won five straight titles from 2006-2010.
