The View cohost Sunny Hostin alleged that she had voting issues at her local polling place.
Hostin said she had to put her ballot inside an orange bag.
“It’s been reported,” Hostin added.
The View cohost and former federal prosecutor Sunny Hostin has alleged that she experienced voting issues at her local polling place on midterm election day.
The 58-year-old legal expert claimed Tuesday morning on the talk show that, upon arriving at her polling place in New York’s Westchester County, she quickly realized that there was an issue.
“I tried to vote very early this morning, before 7 a.m. I got there, and I filled out my ballot,” Hostin said on the air, amid a wider discussion on anxieties about election interference.
Hostin continued, noting that she “took it back to go to the ballot machine, and I was told to fold my ballot and put it into an orange bag because that voting machine wasn’t working.”

The TV personality and Summer On book series author claimed she then inquired about three more machines, but “apparently none of them were working,” either.
“You need to report that,” 84-year-old panelist Joy Behar advised, while Hostin replied, “It’s been reported.”
Former Donald Trump staffer Alyssa Farah Griffin, 37, said that she’s since learned the issues were due to the “thickness of the paper of the ballot” not fitting into machines.
“The ballot felt like every ballot that I’ve cast in the past 20 years in Westchester County,” Hostin stated.
The issues were also covered Tuesday by the New York Times, with the outlet reporting that “voters can still safely fill out and submit their ballots,” per a joint statement by Republican commissioner Douglas A. Colety and Tajian M. Nelson, the Democratic commissioner of the county board of elections.
New York Attorney General Letitia James also addressed the incidents on social media, writing Tuesday, “My office is monitoring this issue with scanners in Westchester and is in touch with the state and local Boards of Elections as they work on a solution. Westchester voters can still safely fill out and turn in their ballots at their polling locations. Your votes will count.”
Back at the Hot Topics table, Griffin stressed that “it’s super important with people going out who haven’t voted yet to know, do trust the process,” but that she also understands “being skeptical because of things that we’ve seen” before.

“Even in the past when President Trump in 2020 tried to challenge the results, 60 courts knocked them down, Republicans in Michigan refused to give into it,” Griffin said.
Whoopi Goldberg also jumped in to advise that “you can walk your ballot” to the board of electors, which will count your vote the same way.

“If you’re not comfortable, that is your alternative,” Goldberg, 70, said. “The system does work. I’ve never believed that there was an issue, except in the early ‘60s when people were prevented from voting, and we took care of that by marching.”
