With several major upsets taking place across college football in the last 24 hours, the college football season is well and truly underway.
The day began with No. 2 Ohio State likely swapping spots in the top 25 with No. 1 Texas after the defending national champions defeated Arch Manning and the Longhorns for a 14-7 win behind a strong performance from their defense.
The top 10 took another hit with Tommy Castellanos backing up his offseason comments by helping Florida State roll past No. 8 Alabama for a lopsided 31-17 win. It was the first season opener that Alabama has dropped since the 2001 season.

The night capped off with the third major upset of the day with Garrett Nussmeier winning the battle against Cade Klubnik to give No. 9 LSU a 17-10 win over No. 6 Clemson in Death Valley, giving LSU its first Week 1 win under Brian Kelly. Elsewhere, Bryce Underwood put on a show in his college debut for No. 14 Michigan in its 34-17 win over New Mexico and No. 20 Kansas State staved off an upset to FCS North Dakota.
But before one can see how those wins – and more importantly those losses – are reflected in the latest top 25 polls, there are still three games to be played on the Labor Day Weekend: Virginia Tech taking on No. 13 South Carolina in the Aflac Kickoff Game in Atlanta; No. 5 Notre Dame visiting No. 10 Miami; and TCU traveling to North Carolina for Bill Belichick's coaching debut in the collegiate ranks.
Here's when both the US LBM Coaches Poll and AP Top 25 poll are released for Week 2 of the college football season:
When do college football top 25 polls come out for Week 2?
Both major college football polls – the US LBM Coaches Poll and the AP Top 25 poll – will be released on Tuesday, Sept. 2 ahead of Week 2 of the college football season.
Traditionally, both polls get released every Sunday during the season but with Belichick's UNC Tar Heels taking on TCU on Labor Day in Chapel Hill, the polls have a delayed release for this week. The Coaches Poll will be released between noon ET and 12:30 p.m. ET on the day of its release, with the AP poll following in suit around 2 p.m. ET.
