Apologies to the BeyHive. Host Nate Bargatze & Co. could not lasso the presence of music superstar Beyoncé, who was a no-show at the 2025 Emmy Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday night.

The singer did receive a shout-out from Bargatze prior to the unveiling of the category, though: "Just know that if you beat Beyoncé, the BeyHive will come for you," the comedian quipped. (Of note: Queen Bey has never attended an Emmys despite previous nominations.)

The *Cowboy Carter* artist was nominated for Outstanding Variety Special (Live) at Sunday's ceremony for *Beyoncé Bowl*,* *Netflix's standalone special of the Grammy winner's NFL Christmas Day halftime show in her native Houston. The win went to* SNL50: The Anniversary Special.*

Beyoncé already took home the trophy for Outstanding Costumes earlier this month, marking her very first Emmy win. In all, Beyoncé has 11 Emmy nominations under her belt, including for 2019's *Homecoming*, the documentary that chronicles her exhaustive preparation for Coachella 2018, and 2016's* Lemonade,* the visual companion to her celebrated album of the same name.

The Outstanding Variety Special category award is typically given out during the Creative Arts Emmys ceremonies the week before the Primetime Emmys; however, the category was moved to the main event this year, which many speculated was the telecast's effort to get the otherwise elusive superstar to make an appearance. **

Queen Bey's competition in the category includes the 2025 Oscars ceremony; *Saturday Night Live *specials *SNL50: The Anniversary Special *and* SNL50: The Homecoming Concert*;* *and none other than her own husband, Jay-Z, who picked up his sixth nomination as executive producer for the most recent Super Bowl halftime show with headliner Kendrick Lamar. The "Texas Hold 'Em" hitmaker recently wrapped her limited nine-city Cowboy Carter and the Rodeo Chitlin' Circuit Tour at the end of July and has been lying low ever since. The tour spanned stops in Los Angeles, Paris, Houston, Washington, D.C., and Las Vegas, the latter the tour's closing city that featured surprise appearances by Destiny's Child, Shaboozey, and Jay-Z. It comes after Beyoncé, already the most decorated artist in Grammys history with 35 wins and 99 nominations, once again made history by becoming the first Black woman to win Best Country Album with *Cowboy Carter *earlier this year. She also won her first Album of the Year prize.
