If you were wondering why Kacie McIntosh was missing from the pod squad reunion party in this week's episodes of *Love Is Blind*, you're not alone. Because Kacie herself was also asking that very same question after finding out that her ex-fiancé Patrick Suzuki was there.

"I wasn't invited," Kacie tells **. "I wasn't invited to the group event. At the time I was very confused. I actually reached out because I heard he got invited and I was wondering why I wasn't."

EW asked *Love Is Blind* creator Chris Coelen to verify Kacie's claims that she wasn't invited. "I'm not the person who specifically hands out invitations to that, but generally everyone is invited," Coelen says. "I can't accurately tell you about how the information was or wasn't relayed to her."

The reunion party in episode 9 featured the engaged couples reuniting in Denver with many of the singles who they had dated or gotten to know in the pods. Patrick showed up to reveal to the other cast members that he hadn't seen Kacie one-on-one since they left the show, despite thinking they were still engaged. He said he wasn't able to get her on the phone to discuss their relationship, and that she told him to tell everyone they were broken up. He also said he asked for the ring back and she said no and stopped talking to him. Then, Patrick reunited with Anna Yuan, who he connected with in the pods until she ghosted him. At the party, he told Anna if she had stayed on the show, he would have gotten engaged to her instead.

"Now seeing [his] and Anna's connection and then hearing that he did tell her at the group event that it would've been her, it all clicks now why I wasn't there," Kacie tells EW. "I can't speak for him, but it was pretty quick to say he wanted to be friends and then go on and tell her that it would've been her, so I'm not sure."

In response to Patrick sharing his version of their breakup in the episode, Kacie says that she actually "reached out to him first."

"We got back on the same day and I got his number through another cast mate and found him on Instagram," Kacie says. "I just wanted to check in on him — I did just end his experience too, and I felt horrible about it and I was thinking about him a ton. In the moment, it felt really good. I really thought I loved him, whether that was love of a friendship or a partner. I was hoping that we could start [dating off the show]."

She reveals that "two days" after getting home, they saw each other in person in a group setting with the other season 9 cast members.

"But I wanted to have a separate conversation with him on a different day that was not distracted by people around us, and give me a little more time to process what I was feeling," she says. "But unfortunately we started texting, and pretty much the second day we were back, he asked for the ring back, and then I started to get a little upset, and then he said he just wanted to be friends. I really don't know where the disconnect happened in a matter of a couple of days. I didn't know at the time if he wanted to pursue something else, but then I did hear about what happened [with Anna]."

Kacie says she "felt really upset" by how quickly Patrick asked for the ring back during their text exchanges.

"The first thing was, 'Let's meet up and talk,' and then all of a sudden it was, 'Did you and your mom watch the Oscars? Also, can I have the ring back for memorabilia?'" Kacie says. "I was like, 'Why is this even on our radar right now, who the ring belongs to?' I didn't know the full extent of him and Anna until I watched, I had heard he DMed her and honestly, when this was happening I was like, 'That's weird.' But now I watch it and I'm like, 'Oh, I was actually the second choice. They have this love story and now it all makes sense.'"

Kacie says she didn't consider her relationship with Patrick to be over until he asked for the ring back.**

"The moment that it jumped to, 'I want the ring back for memorabilia, and respectfully I want to be friends,' I was just like, 'Okay, I guess we're done then,'" she says. "It was just too much. At that point I was just like, 'This is getting to be too much for me right now,' so I just kind of stopped talking to him."

Kacie confirms they haven't spoken since that last text exchange about the ring.

"I haven't seen Patrick in over a year," she says. "The [upcoming] reunion will be the first time I'm seeing him in over a year. I'm just freaking out about it. I think it's going to be hard. I still am hopeful that [because] we experienced this together that things will be okay. But I don't know where his head's at with me."
