Aviva Stadium location, capacity, more ahead of 2025 Aer Lingus College Football Classic

The 2025 college football season is set to get underway on Saturday, Aug. 23.

However, when No. 20 Kansas State kicks off versus No. 21 Iowa State, the game will not be played stateside. Rather, the matchup between the Wildcats and Cyclones will be part of the Aer Lingus College Football Classic in Dublin.

The 2025 season marks the fifth time a college football game will be played in the Classic, which is hosted at Aviva Stadium in Dublin. The first-ever Aer Lingus College Football Classic was played on Sept. 3, 2016, when Georgia Tech beat Boston College 17-14.

The Yellow Jackets earned a 27-24 win over No. 10 Florida State to kick off the 2024 season last year. Here's what you about Aviva Stadium:

The current Aviva Stadium is the former site of Lansdowne Road Stadium, which was the world's oldest rugby stadium before it was torn down in 2007. The original stadium was built in 1872.

The venue seats 49,000 for American football games, with the 2023 Notre Dame-Navy matchup setting the record for an American football game with the capacity crowd.

Who plays at Aviva Stadium?

Aviva Stadium is the home of the Irish national soccer and rugby teams. The stadium has also hosted Euro qualifiers, World Cup qualifiers, Nations Cup and Nations League games, as well as a handful of friendly matches.

The Irish national team holds a 33-23-26 overall record at Aviva Stadium.

History of college football games at Aviva Stadium

This year's game will mark the fourth consecutive year a college football will play at the stadium, starting with Northwestern-Nebraska in 2022. Notre Dame-Navy and Florida State-Georgia Tech followed in 2023 and 2024, respectively.
