- *Euphoria* season 3 is slated to arrive in spring 2026.

- Season 3 will jump forward in time, exploring the characters' lives after high school.

- Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Sydney Sweeney, and Jacob Elordi are among the cast members returning for the season.

It's been more than three years since the *Euphoria* season 2 finale, and the wait for season 3 has been anything but euphoric.

Sam Levinson's Emmy-winning teen drama premiered in 2019, unspooling the anxious and drug-filled story of Rue (Zendaya), a recovering teenage addict navigating her high school's web of sex, scandal, and betrayal.

If you're wondering why the third season — greenlit way back in 2022 — is taking so long, consider the wattage of its ensemble. Zendaya's stock has only risen since the series debuted. The same goes for supporting players Colman Domingo, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer, and Sydney Sweeney, all of whom have emerged as major Hollywood players. Getting these people in one room is no easy task.

But despite rumors to the contrary, *Euphoria* season 3 is on the way. We've also gleaned plenty of details about what fans can expect, from its story and setting to which cast members are returning (and which ones are not).

Read on for everything we know about *Euphoria* season 3.**

Will there be a season 3 of Euphoria?

Yes, *Euphoria *will return for season 3, but we understand why you might be suspicious. After all, it's been more than *three years* since HBO renewed it.

In early 2024, rumors that the series was kaput swirled online, prompting HBO to release a statement that season 3 was still on the way. "HBO and Sam Levinson remain committed to making an exceptional third season," a spokesperson told ** at the time. "In the interim, we are allowing our in-demand cast to pursue other opportunities."

That "in-demand" cast also expressed confusion and uncertainty about the series' future. When Jimmy Fallon asked Elordi when the show could return during a January 2024 appearance on *The Tonight Show*, Elordi replied, "I don't know, do you know?"

Elordi joked, "I hope it's soon, or they're going to have to Benjamin Button me or something. I'm going to have a bad back walking down the hallway, you know?"**

Nika King, who plays Rue's mother on the show, joked that the delays were impacting her personally. "Don't ask me [when season 3 is coming out]. I don't f---ing know," she said in a stand-up set posted on her TikTok account. "People are like, 'We need season 3,' and I'm like, bitch, *I* need season 3! I haven't paid my rent in six months."

Last year, Chloe Cherry, the actress who played Faye in season 2, told *The Daily Mail* that she was also unaware of the show's plans. "No one talks to me. They really don't talk to me," she said. "I would definitely go back, but they just leave me in the dark, let's just say that."**

In February, HBO confirmed that production had begun, and even offered proof of life with a still of Zendaya's Rue from season 3.

"Sam, Zendaya, and the entire cast and crew of *Euphoria* have taken season 2 to extraordinary heights, challenging narrative convention and form while maintaining its heart," said Francesca Orsi, executive vice president of HBO programming, in a statement. "We couldn't be more honored to work with this gifted, wildly talented team or more excited to continue our journey with them into season 3."**

In the summer of 2023, Levinson described season 3 as a "film noir," adding that Rue's journey would allow the season to "explore what it means to be an individual with principles in a corrupt world."

Domingo spoke to the thrust of the season in an interview with *British GQ* in 2024. "[Levinson is] a person who writes and rewrites and writes and rewrites again, because I think he's wrestling with what's important," the actor said. "He's responding immediately to what the ills of the world are. I know that the one thing I can tell you is that he's very much interested in the existential question of who we are right now. Our souls. That's what he wants to figure out with season three."

While promoting her film *Challengers* in 2024, Zendaya confirmed to EW that the upcoming season would feature a time jump. "It's important because there's only so much high school drama you can deal with," she told us.

She added, "It will be fascinating to see and understand these characters outside of the context of high school and how all the stuff that we saw when they were kids and they were in high school affects the adulthood they have and who they become in a much bigger world."

In an October 2025 chat with *Variety*, Elordi called the new season "incredibly clever and cinematic" while alluding to having shot his storyline separately from many of his castmates. "I don't know what anyone else is doing. I had a really singular storyline. You don't know what the other story lines are. It's like FBI files," he said. "So it's great because I'll get to consume the show the same way that everybody else does as a fan, which I haven't been able to do before."**

Which cast members are returning for Euphoria season 3?

Who's returning for *Euphoria* season 3? Zendaya's Rue, of course, as well as pals Maddy (Alexa Demie), Lexi (Maude Apatow), and Jules (Schafer). Though they've all found success on the big screen, Domingo, Elordi, and Sweeney are also slated to reprise their roles as Ali, Nate, and Cassie, respectively.

Speaking to the season's time jump, Sweeney told Who What Wear, "I actually like it because there's so much room for growth for both me as a person and also Cassie as a character... It's going to be very, very wild."

In October 2025, HBO also revealed a slew of supporting cast members who will return in season 3. They include Alanna Ubach (Suze), Daeg Faerch (Mitch), Dominic Fike (Elliot), Melvin Bonez Estes (Bruce), Paula Marshall (Marsha), Sophia Rose Wilson (BB), and Zak Steiner (Aaron), as well as Nika King (Leslie), Martha Kelly (Laurie), and Chloe Cherry (Faye).**

A nervous system disease with no known cure, ALS impacts nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord and can result in loss of muscle control, according to Mayo Clinic. Dane confirmed to PEOPLE that he still plans on appearing in *Euphoria*'s third season.

"I feel fortunate that I am able to continue working and am looking forward to returning to the set of *Euphoria* next week," he said.**
