*Mayor of Kingstown* season 3 found the town rocked by the explosive arrival of Russian mobsters, giving rise to a drug war both inside and outside the prison.

By the season's end, the Russians were defeated, with Mike delivering a fatal shot to Aidan Gillen's fierce Milo, but at a cost. The Kingstown Police Department is in disarray after a failed op that resulted in Mike's brother, Kyle (Taylor Handley), getting arrested for shooting at rampaging SWAT leader Sawyer (Hamish Allan-Headley). We also lose Iris (Emma Laird), who overdoses on pain pills after getting in too deep with Mike and the Russians.**

Per the season's official synopsis, season 4 of *Mayor of Kingstown* sees "Mike's control over Kingstown threatened as new players compete to fill the power vacuum left in the Russians' wake, compelling him to confront the resulting gang war and stop them from swallowing the town."

It continues, "Meanwhile, with those he loves in more danger than ever before, Mike must contend with a headstrong new warden to protect his own while grappling with demons from his past."

That warden is played by *The Sopranos*' Edie Falco, who is one of several new characters going toe-to-toe with Renner's Mike in what Dillon called an "incendiary" season.

"The blade's sharper. The cuts go deeper," Dillon told EW of season 4. "It's about the intricacies of human emotion under pressure, and the choices we make when we have no good choices left."

He continued, "The past doesn't catch up with you. It reloads. So it's coming and, in Mike's case, it is right there. And Mike isn't somebody who runs, and that's what's interesting. He stands and fights and he's not ruled by fear or greed. So we just follow the truth of this character." **

Who's in the Mayor of Kingstown season 4 cast?

*Mayor of Kingstown*'s returning players include Renner, Handley, Allan-Headley, Nishi Munshi, Derek Webster, and Tobi Bamtefa.

"I will say that Jeremy Renner is at the top of his game after his comeback," Dillon told EW, referencing Renner's return to the screen following his near-fatal snowplow accident. "Just firing on all cylinders. It's exciting."

Another new player in season 4 of* Mayor of Kingstown* is Lennie James, the veteran character actor best known for playing Morgan Jones on *The Walking Dead* (2010–2022) and *Fear the Walking Dead* (2018–2023).

Here, James plays a respected gangster, Frank Moses. "Lennie knocked it out of the park," Dillon told EW. "There was just a sophistication to this gangster that's pretty rock and roll that's kind of fun to watch."

Season 4 will also welcome Laura Benanti, a Tony-winning Broadway vet with a long list of TV credits that include *Supergirl* (2015–2016) and *The Gilded Age *(2023). She plays Cindy Stephens, a single mother and correctional officer who's new to Kingstown.

Benanti's character will no doubt cross paths with Falco's warden, Nina Hobbs. "What I love about what we've constructed is that it has an unpredictable velocity that you cannot look away from. [Falco's] character is that personified," Dillon said. "She's just so effortless. I've been a fan of hers for so long and then when you see her just at work, in the [*Mayor of Kingstown*] world, and with Jeremy Renner… it's explosive."**

The *Mayor of Kingstown* season 4 trailer introduces several new players.

Falco's Nina Hobbs, for example, puts her foot down, promising change is coming to the Anchor Bay Correctional Facility. "This is my castle now," she pointedly tells Mike. "Do we understand each other?"

On the other end of town is James' Frank Moses, whose presence hangs over several men tied to train tracks. "Don't think for one second I don't know how to get my hands dirty," he warns.

Mike, as always, is on the offensive. "Time to bring the hammer down," he says.**
