Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos celebrate their Emmy win on 'Live With Kelly and Mark'

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos weren't quite in the partying mood when they learned about their Daytime Emmy win for Outstanding Daytime Talk Series.

On Monday's episode of *Live With Kelly and Mark*, the hosts celebrated their win by sharing the story of how they heard about the victory from their home in New York City. The couple did not attend the awards ceremony in Pasadena, Calif., on Friday.

"Mark and I, in grand tradition, we were in bed early Friday night," Ripa began. "We had a lot going on. Friday was a very, very busy day. And we went to bed early — I was asleep by 8:45 p.m. and I think you [Mark], were probably out by 9 p.m."

Ripa said that the couple's dog woke them up at 2 a.m. because she hadn't been let out for her nightly constitutional. "We do what we always do, which is we grab our phones to sort of like illuminate the room... and we have 70 text messages. Which to us means that something bad has happened with our parents. So we are, of course, terrified to click," she shared.

Consuelos noted that he had calmed down when he noticed the notifications were mostly from their coworkers, but Ripa explained that the latest message she saw was from their 22-year-old son, Joaquin. But Joaquin was just asking his mom "to send him a picture of him with long, curly hair," Ripa griped.

"And then [Mark] said, 'Hey, we won an Emmy!'"**

"And I was like, 'We only win Emmys when we're asleep!'" Ripa quipped, referring to when she and Consuelos won the Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host in 2024. "So this is proof that we need to be put to bed on Emmy night. On Emmy night, we need to be put to sleep if we are going to win."**

The couple went on to congratulate their staff — their "village" that contributed to the show's Emmy-winning work — and thank the TV Academy.

"We really appreciate it," Ripa said. "This show is a labor of love. We do it with a very small, tiny group of people. It's a true honor, but we couldn't do it without our group and our incredible audience. Our show does not typically win the Emmy for best show, but I will say, you guys give us the Emmy every day. You are, I will repeat, our good luck charm."

While *Live *has been nominated for an Emmy 21 times before, this is only its second win for Outstanding Daytime Talk Series. The last time the show won in the category was in 2012.**

Perhaps the win will quell Ripa's thoughts about about quitting *Live *for the time being.

In April 2023, the talk show icon revealed that she often thinks about quitting the daytime series after nearly three decades at the helm. Ripa joined *Live* in 2001 alongside the late Regis Philbin, and has remained with the show across several iterations and cohosts, including Michael Strahan and Ryan Seacrest, before her husband, Consuelos, took the seat beside her in 2023.

In an interview with ** before Consuelos took his new post, Ripa admitted that she had considered retiring. "It's so funny. Every time you get a new cohost, it's like a little jolt of energy," she said at the time. "But to be clear, I am always thinking about retiring [*laughs*]. It is my favorite topic of discussion."

She added, "I commend Ryan for lasting as long as he did because I really had my concerns. We're friends, we're open, we've talked about this in the past, but, of course, I had my concerns about him picking up and moving to New York because it's not as easy as one thinks it might be. The sacrifices he made are not lost on me, and I really think he did it for as long as he possibly could."
