- Seth Rogen believes he's been "blacklisted" from presenting at the Emmys.

- The comedian thinks he hasn't been asked back due to his comments about the 2021 ceremony.

- Rogen said that the awards show's producers were "outwardly pissed off" at him after criticizing the ceremony's indoor venue during the pandemic.

Seth Rogen hasn't presented at the Emmys since 2021 — and he believes he knows the reason why.

The *Knocked Up* star explained why he thinks he's been "blacklisted" from presenting at the awards show during an appearance on *Jimmy Kimmel Live* on Tuesday. "I presented there, I think it was, four years ago at this point, and I have not been invited back," Rogen recalled.

The actor believes his alleged ban from presenting on the Emmys stage dates back to his segment at the 2021 ceremony, where he criticized the event's indoor venue amid the "the thick of COVID" in an unscripted moment on live TV. **

"Let me start by saying there is way too many of us in this little room," Rogen said during the 2021 ceremony before introducing the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series category. "What are we doing? They said this was outdoors! It's not. They lied to us. We're in a hermetically sealed tent right now! I would not have come to this. Why is there a roof? It's more important that we have three chandeliers than that we make sure we don't kill Eugene Levy tonight. That is what has been decided. This is insane. I went from wiping my groceries to having Paul Bettany sneeze in my face."

His comments drew widespread laughter from the audience at the time.**

During his conversation with Jimmy Kimmel, Rogen defended his "off-book" statements. "It was true! They lied," he insisted. "It said, 'Outdoor event.' And I had all intention of doing the dumb schtick that they had written for me, and then I showed up, and then I was like, 'We're in a tent. I can't ignore this. We're gonna kill these old— Eugene Levy's here! We're gonna kill Eugene Levy? I don't wanna do that.'"

Rogen said that the producers' dissatisfaction with him was no secret. "They were outwardly pissed off at me afterwards, the producers, and I know they cycle through producers, but I've not been asked to return."

Kimmel, who hosted the ceremony in 2012, 2016, and 2020, joked that he confirmed Rogen's ban with the Television Academy.

"I checked today, because, you know, I've hosted the Emmys quite a few times, and you are, indeed, banned from presenting," he said.

Rogen also compared his supposed plight to Kimmel's suspension from ABC. "I've been blacklisted. I'm with you!" he joked. "I'm like you. They're trying to silence me. You can't win. You try to speak truth to power! You know!"

Rogen later admitted that he understands why the Emmys might not want him back as a presenter.

"I get it," he said. "I went very off-book and made them look bad. So, I get that."

The *Neighbors* star still made a massive splash at this year's Emmys, however, as he personally won four awards for the first season of *The Studio*. He took home gold when the show, which he co-created and produced, won the award for Outstanding Comedy Series, and also won for his direction, writing, and lead performance on the Apple TV+ series.
