Homeland Security is responding after *Hacks* star Hannah Einbinder made headlines for her censored acceptance speech during the Emmys on Sunday night.

"How ugly — such demonization is inspiring violence against our ICE law enforcement who are facing a 1,000% increase in assaults against them," the department's assistant secretary, Tricia McLaughlin, told TMZ.

She continued, "As this woman fans the flames of hatred, our brave law enforcement will continue enforcing the rule of law and protecting Americans."

Einbinder, who won the award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy for her role on the HBO Max dramedy, only directed two words towards the government department during her speech; "I just want to say, finally, go Birds, f--- ICE, and free Palestine!" she declared in the last seconds of her time onstage.

The "f--- ICE" part was bleeped on the Paramount-owned CBS broadcast, but those in the room at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, as well as the unedited footage that lives online, confirm the full quote.

Despite McLaughlin's censure of her comment, Einbinder's speech was met with thundering applause from the audience. It's not a surprise considering President Donald Trump's anti-immigrant ICE raids hit the city of Los Angeles hard in recent months.

Einbinder opened up about her decision to address the actions of Israel in Palestine with reporters backstage, saying, "I thought it was important to talk about Palestine because it's an issue that's very dear to my heart. I have friends in Gaza who are working as frontline workers, as doctors right now in the north of Gaza to provide care for pregnant women and for school children to create schools in the refugee camps."

She added, "I feel it is my obligation as a Jewish person to distinguish Jews from the state of Israel because our religion and our culture is such an important and long-standing, basically, institution that is really separate to this sort of ethnonationalist state."

"Boycotting is an effective tool to create pressure on the powers that be to meet the moment," she said.

Einbinder was also one of many celebrities who signed a pledge not to work with Israel film institutions "implicated in genocide." Celebs were also spotted wearing an Artists4Ceasefire pin on Sunday's red carpet, an accessory that has become a red carpet staple and asks that the U.S. government call for an "immediate de-escalation and ceasefire in Gaza and Israel before another life is lost."

Actor Javier Bardem was another star who called out both the actions of Israel and ICE in the United States at the Emmys. While on the red carpet, Bardem told *USA Today* that he supports Bad Bunny's decision not to bring his latest concert tour to America in light of ICE's presence across the nation.

Bardem also made a statement with his outfit, wearing a keffiyeh to walk the red carpet. The traditional Middle Eastern scarf, usually black-and-white patterned, has become a widely recognized symbol of Palestinian identity and resistance.

While chatting with *Variety*, Bardem said if he discovered that a company he was set to work with was in business with Israel, he simply "won't work."

"I cannot work with somebody that justifies or supports the genocide," he continued. "That's as simple as that. We shouldn't be able to do that, in this industry or any other industry."

The actor went on to denounce the "genocide in Gaza," telling the outlet, "I am talking about the IAGS, the International Association of Genocide Scholars, who study genocide thoroughly and has declared it is a genocide. That's why we ask for a commercial and diplomatic blockade and also sanctions on Israel to stop the genocide. Free Palestine!"
