Denise Richards has responded to her ex husband Charlie Sheen's recent claim that she once cashed a $1 million check that he wrote out to her as a joke.

The *Real Housewives *star posted a photo of the purported check — which featured Sheen's name, signature, and the large lump sum — on her Instagram Story on Thursday.

"Found this during my recent move," Richards captioned the image. "I never cashed it @Charliesheen. Is it still good?!"

Sheen recalled his alleged accidental million-dollar giveaway on a new episode of the KFC Radio podcast.

"I mean, I don't think she'll be too mad. I wrote a check to Denise once for a million dollars on her birthday kind of as a joke, and she kept it *not* as a joke," he said. "And then, like a month later, f---ing cashed it."

The *Two and a Half Men* actor said he couldn't quite remember if they were married when the incident occurred, adding, "Which makes it sting more…?"

The check that Richards posted on social media was dated Dec. 24, 2011, which is more than five years after the couple's difficult divorce in November 2006. The former couple, who tied the knot in 2002, are parents to daughters Sami and Lola.

While speaking on the podcast, Sheen acknowledged that he probably would have cashed the $1 million check, too. Still, he noted, "She could've let me know just maybe the day of: 'Hey, you sound like you're driving somewhere.' 'Yeah, to the bank, actually!'"

The *Wall Street *actor added that he was grateful "there was enough money in that account for that check not to bounce," and that the check was more of a symbolic gesture than him actually giving her the funds.

"It might've been her birthday," Sheen concluded. "I don't know."

Richards opened up about her rocky marriage to Sheen and his struggle with substance abuse in his recent Netflix docuseries, *A.k.a. Charlie Sheen*, last month. **** "What he put me through, I don't know how I'm here to be honest," she admitted, per *US Weekly*. "I think the only way through tragedy, what I was going through, was having a f---ing sense of humor, because it was so bad."**

She continued, "I know the outside people would think we're crazy, making fun like, 'Remember when you took a baseball bat to all the TVs?'… I think that if I wasn't a strong person, I would have gone down a very dark road just to deal with all of this s---."**
