- *Scrubs* is returning to Sacred Heart Hospital after its original run from 2001 to 2010.

- Zach Braff, Donald Faison, Sarah Chalke, and Judy Reyes will reprise their iconic roles in a revival series, alongside several new additions joining as recurring guest stars.

- The *Scrubs* revival is set to premiere in 2026.

A decade and a half after fans said goodbye to Sacred Heart Hospital, the stars of *Scrubs* are getting ready to stage a comeback — and now it's time to meet all the MDs who are returning.

A revival series based on the beloved sitcom will follow Dr. John "J.D." Dorian (Zach Braff) and Dr. Christopher Turk (Donald Faison) as they scrub in together for the first time in a long time.

"Medicine has changed, interns have changed, but their bromance has stood the test of time," the series' logline teases. "Characters new and old navigate the waters of Sacred Heart with laughter, heart and some surprises along the way."

Also returning? Sarah Chalke, who portrayed J.D.'s love interest Dr. Elliot Reid; Judy Reyes, who played head nurse (and Turk's love interest) Carla Espinosa on the original show; and John C. McGinley, who portrayed J.D.'s mentor Perry Cox.

Joining the core cast are a few other familiar faces reprising their roles, as well as several guest stars making their *Scrubs* debut for the highly anticipated followup. Among the latter are Vanessa Bayer (*Saturday Night Live*) as Sibby, who runs a wellness program for Sacred Heart's faculty and staff, and Joel Kim Booster (*Loot*) as attending physician Dr. Eric Park.

The revival will also introduce a new intern class, including five newbies: Upright Citizens Brigade alum Ava Bunn as Serena, Jacob Dudman (*Fate: The Winx Saga*) as Asher, David Gridley (*All American*) as Blake, Layla Mohammadi (*Lioness*) as Amara, and Amanda Morrow (*Law & Order: SVU*) as Dashana.**

Zach Braff was the first star to join the *Scrubs* revival, officially making the leap in May.

The actor and director played the central physician on the medical sitcom for its first seven seasons on NBC and its eighth on ABC. He also returned for six episodes of the show's ninth season, which introduced a new set of primary characters.

Since the show's end, Braff has maintained close professional ties with Faison, who memorably played J.D.'s bestie, forming a quintessential TV bromance. Braff and Faison launched the *Scrubs *rewatch podcast *Fake Doctors, Real Friends* in 2020, and have teamed up for a bunch of T-Mobile commercials harkening back to their onscreen friendship.

Braff has also kept close with *Scrubs* creator and executive producer Bill Lawrence, who went on to oversee hit series like *Ted Lasso* and *Shrinking* (both of which Braff has directed episodes of).**

Donald Faison joined the revival series shortly after Braff signed on, alongside costar Chalke.

Faison spent nine seasons playing Dr. Chris Turk, the BFF of Braff's J.D. When the series was retooled for its ninth season, which focused on a new batch of interns, Faison and McGinley were the only two cast members to remain on the series as regulars.

Prior to his time on *Scrubs*, Faison appeared in films like *Clueless* and *Can't Hardly Wait*. He has also headlined other sitcoms, including TV Land's *The Exes* and NBC's *Extended Family*.

Faison has done voice work for a number of animated projects, including *Robot Chicken*, where he later interned to study stop-motion animation. He now makes his own stop-motion projects in his spare time, which he posts on Instagram.

Sarah Chalke as Dr. Elliot Reid

Sarah Chalke boarded the *Scrubs* revival at the same time as Faison, celebrating the news with a series of throwback photos of herself with Braff and Faison on Instagram, which she captioned, "YAY!"

Chalke played Dr. Elliot Reid on the first eight seasons of the show. Her character was J.D.'s primary love interest, and the two MDs eventually tied the knot and welcomed a child.

Chalke guest-starred in four episodes of season 9, after being a series regular for the show's first eight seasons.

While visiting EW's video suite at San Diego Comic-Con in July, Chalke shared one of her dream plotlines for the revival.**

"I can't tease any plot details because I don't know any because it's all so new," she said. "Someone just asked me if I have any requests for the plots, and I just said, 'Flash mob. I wanna be in the flash mob.' So, I don't know how that works into the storyline, but I think there's a way."

The actress is no stranger to iconic sitcoms, having spent time as a series regular on *Roseanne* in the 1990s, taking over the role of Roseanne and Dan's eldest daughter, Becky, while actress Lecy Goranson was away at college. After *Scrubs*, she appeared on shows like *How I Met Your Mother* and *How to Live with Your Parents (For the Rest of Your Life)*. She is a series regular on *Rick and Morty*, voicing Beth Smith, and was also a regular voice actor on *Paradise PD*.

Judy Reyes as Carla Espinosa

Judy Reyes joined the *Scrubs* revival in September, signing on to reprise her role as everyone's favorite nurse, Carla Espinosa.

Reyes starred as the RN across the first eight seasons of *Scrubs*, from 2001 until 2009. Her character began dating Turk (Faison) during season 1, and the couple remained together throughout the show, getting hitched in the season 3 finale and eventually welcoming two kids.

Reyes was not among the smaller group of *Scrubs* cast members who returned for the series' reimagined ninth season. She will star on the revival series on a recurring status.**

Chatting with TVLine after news broke of her return, Reyes revealed that Turk's better half is still a nurse, adding: "She loves that s‑‑‑. A good chunk of the team is still working together, and I love that."**

"That [first table read] was really special," she added. "It was kind of like we just left for lunch and came back and saw each other. It was very emotional with how terrific the script was and how much of our original team was actually there — including the writers. It was kind of like we never left. I can't wait to see how the audience reacts."

In addition to her work on *Scrubs*, Reyes currently stars on the ABC crime drama *High Potential*. The actress is also well known for playing Zoila Diaz on the Lifetime dramedy series *Devious Maids*, and Quiet Ann on TNT's *Claws*. Her other TV credits include *Dr. Death*, *Better Things*, *One Day at a Tim*e, *Jane the Virgin*, *Succession*, *The Good Wife*, and *Fresh Off The Boat*.**

John C. McGinley as Dr. Perry Cox

John C. McGinley will reprise his role as Dr. Perry Cox as a recurring guest star for the *Scrubs* revival.

McGinley portrayed the acerbic attending physician who found himself as the unwilling mentor to the show's protagonist, J.D. The actor was among the smaller group of *Scrubs* cast members (including Braff and Faison) who returned for the series' reimagined ninth season.

Dr. Cox, who had become the chief of medicine at Sacred Heart by the eighth season, transitioned to being a professor when the hospital was turned into a medical school in season 9.

Like Braff, McGinley is a frequent Bill Lawrence collaborator. Following his run on *Scrubs*, the actor was a series regular on the TBS comedy* Ground Floor*, which Lawrence co-created and executive-produced. McGinley is also part of the main cast of HBO's upcoming untitled Steve Carell comedy series, co-created and exec-produced by Lawrence, in which he also plays a college professor.**

Robert Maschio as Dr. Todd "The Todd" Quinlan

Robert Maschio will reprise his role as the often immature Dr. Todd "The Todd" Quinlan. The actor previously appeared in 126 episodes of *Scrubs*, as a plastic surgeon who becomes good friends with Turk. Despite his perverse and jock-like disposition, he is known to be a talented and knowledgeable surgeon.

In addition to *Scrubs*, Maschio has appeared on several popular TV shows, including *As the World Turns*, *Cougar Town*, *Men at Work*, and *Veronica Mars*.

Phill Lewis as Hooch

Phill Lewis on 'Scrubs'

Phill Lewis on 'Scrubs'.

For many, Phill Lewis will always be Mr. Mosebly, the ever-harried hotel manager from *Suite Life of Zack & Cody* and the captain manager of the S.S. Tipton on the Disney Channel spinoff *The Suite Life on Deck*. But the actor and director has many roles to his name, including orthopedic surgeon Dr. Hooch on *Scrubs*.

Lewis will reprise his role as Hooch as a recurring guest star in the revival, although since his character was arrested for taking interns hostage in season 4, it'll be interesting to see how he makes his return.

Lewis' TV credits include *A Different World*, *Buffy the Vampire Slayer*, *The Wayans Bros.*, *Friends*, and *Lizzie McGuire*.

On the big screen, he's appeared in *Kicking & Screaming*, *Surviving Christmas*, and *I Spy*.

Lewis has also worked behind the camera, directing episodes of *Happy Together*,* A Bronx Life*, *Broke*, *The Neighborhood*, *Mad About You*, *Indebted*, *Mr. Iglesias*, and *One Day At A Time*.

Where can I watch Scrubs?**

You can watch all nine seasons of *Scrubs* on Hulu.

The *Scrubs* revival is slated to premiere in 2026.
