After about 7 years of not attending the MTV VMAs, Ariana Grande took home multiple major awards at this year's awards show.
The "Eternal Sunshine" singer took home the coveted Moon Person statue for video of the year on Sunday, Sept. 7, for her song, "Brighter Days Ahead" off her latest album. Wearing a white, ballerina-esque dress from Givenchy by Sarah Burton, the 32-year-old brought Christian Breslauer, the video's director, onstage with her.
After making a joke about the height of the microphone, Grande reiterated her appreciation for her supporters. "I want to start again with my fans. Thank you so, so much," she said, igniting a roaring crowd. "I love you with all my heart. I have since I was a teenager, since we've first crossed paths and I will for my whole life."

Ariana Grande says 'Eternal Sunshine' album helped her heal from trauma
Ariana Grande accepts the Video of the Year Award for "Brighter Days Ahead."
Grande expressed gratitude for her career, and noted that her seventh album was "about the hard work that is healing all different kinds of trauma and coming home to our young selves and creating safety in our own lives, which is a lifelong process and a daily exercise."
She continued, "If you're on that journey, please continue onward because I promise there are brighter days ahead."

The singer and actress also championed Breslauer for his contributions before inviting him to also take the microphone to give a speech. He praised Grande for being "a brilliant collaborator."
He added: "Ari's literally the example of what that could ever be to a director."
It was a triumphant night for Grande, who had not attended the MTV VMAs in person since 2018. Styled by Law Roach, Grande made her grand return to the VMAs in a custom Fendi black-and-white polka dot dress on the red carpet − she continued to roll out different looks throughout the night.

Celebrities didn't shy away from bold looks on the MTV VMAs red carpet. From Doja Cat's 80s-inspired blonde locks to a Labubu in a silver astronaut suit, here are the biggest fashion statements from the 2025 awards.
In her third ensemble of the night, when accepting the best pop artist award, Grande was visibly nervous about taking the best pop artist trophy. "I have to start by thanking my fans, I'm going to cry," she said, then stopped, "I think I broke this."
And though the flag on her Moonman was indeed spinning, she regained her composure. "I love you with every fiber of my being," she said to her fans, and then gave a proud shout out to her dad, who "acted in this video for the first time in his life. The best scene partner and dad in the world."
