- Sunny Hostin, a former federal prosecutor, slammed FBI director Kash Patel's recent behavior.

- *The View* cohost said he's "despicable" and "not qualified" for his position.

- "I've known FBI directors. This is unbecoming of the office."

Sunny Hostin, current *View* cohost and a former federal prosecutor, has called out FBI director Kash Patel over his outburst at a Tuesday Senate Judiciary Committee hearing.

After moderator Whoopi Goldberg introduced a Hot Topics discussion Wednesday about Patel's clash with Democrats during the hearing, Hostin set her sights on the controversial figure appointed to his position by President Donald Trump.

"FBI director Kash Patel had a very fiery day of testimony at a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, where both sides of the aisle questioned him and his performance on the job that he's done so far," Goldberg said at the top of the episode. The show then played clips of his heated exchange with Sen. Cory Booker (who advised Patel that Trump will eventually "cut you loose"), as well as an additional debate with Sen. Adam Schiff over issues related to Jeffrey Epstein associate Ghislaine Maxwell.

"I don't know that he has credibility anyway because he's just not qualified for this position," Hostin said after Goldberg turned the discussion over to her fellow panelists.

Hostin said, "I think the matter with which he conducted himself in front of the Senate Committee was despicable," and cited her experience with officials as the basis for her perspective.

"That's just not how you conduct yourself, especially if you're the FBI director," she added. "I worked at the Department of Justice, I've known FBI directors. This is unbecoming of the office."

On the matter of Schiff's inquiry about Maxwell's August transfer from a Florida federal prison to a prison camp in Texas, Hostin pointed out that he, too, "was also a federal prosecutor," so she trusted his line of questioning.

"I prosecuted sex crimes in particular. There's no way the Bureau of Prisons, on its own — on its own — moved Ghislaine Maxwell to a less restrictive security prison. It does not happen," Hostin said, after Patel indicated that the department made the decision to move Maxwell.

"Someone had to request that transfer," Hostin continued, and suggested that the "timing of that move was strange, at best," in her opinion.

Joy Behar

Later in the conversation, Joy Behar said, "I feel like we're trapped in a bad movie. Like, you've got these incompetent people running the government, and we're like a bunch of sitting ducks," before lamenting her feeling that "there's no end to the incompetency that we're experiencing as Americans."

"The elephant in the room is that we're screwed," Behar concluded.
