Cheryl Hines is sharing her perspective on the alleged affair between her husband Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and journalist Olivia Nuzzi, which made headlines during his short-lived run for president last year.

In a preview for Hines' appearance on the *Kate Miller Podcast*, which will premiere on Oct. 28, the *Curb Your Enthusiasm* alum recalled how she learned of the sexting scandal, which reportedly happened while Nuzzi — who is 39 years his junior — was covering RFK Jr.'s campaign for *New York *magazine.

"I think you always have to consider the source, right? So that's where I start," Hines said about the public's speculation about her marriage after the rumors rose. "And then it ends with a conversation with Bobby."

Miller prodded Hines further, asked how she responded to Nuzzi "trying to monetize herself over Bobby." The journalist is set to release a memoir, *American Canto*, on Dec. 2.

"At the time, Bobby had been running for president and it was an exhausting year and a half of headlines and rumors and articles and chaos," Hines told Miller. "And at that time, I thought, 'Okay, this is more chaos and more rumors.' And, um, it was a lot."

Hines claimed the news came on the "heels" of learning of her nephew's death, which she said was "what's important in life."

"So you have a real loss and a real family situation. And then to have a story was distracting at best, but also in the scheme of what's real, what's not, what's important, what's not — it was not ranking up in the 'what's important in life' category," the actress added. "I don't know this person. Don't know their intention. I could guess, but I won't. But you can if you want."

After *New York* learned of Nuzzi and RFK Jr.'s alleged "personal" relationship, the writer was placed on leave and RFK Jr. subsequently "suspended" his presidential campaign and endorsed Republican nominee Donald Trump.

While Nuzzi laid low in the wake of the controversy, she recently resurfaced in September with a job at *Vanity Fair* as the outlet's West Coast editor and news of her memoir making headlines.**

Kennedy, who campaigned as an independent candidate, has since become the secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services — to much controversy.

Hines told Miller that one of the lessons she learned during her husband's campaign was that "there are people that really want to be involved in the conversation."

"I'm not just talking about [Nuzzi], I'm talking about a lot of people," she explained. "They spend a lot of time figuring out how to write something that's going to get people's attention. And if they do, then they are really celebrating. Whether it's true or false, doesn't matter. If it gets people's attention, it's a celebration. It's a success for them."**
