Because I watched this teaser trailer, I have been changed... *For Good*.

A new teaser trailer urging fans to secure tickets for the upcoming conclusion to the *Wicked *film duology contains the first snippets of two highly anticipated new songs. Cynthia Erivo's "No Place Like Home" and Ariana Grande's "The Girl in the Bubble" briefly sound off amidst a medley of showstopping numbers from the second half of the musical that began its life on Broadway, including "No Good Deed Goes Unpunished," "Thank Goodness," and of course, the film's namesake, "For Good."**

Just after a snippet of Jonathan Bailey delivering a dramatic rendition of the ballad "As Long as You're Mine," a few bars of Grande's new song can be heard. "She's the girl in the bubble," the pop icon turned silver screen star croons, "a bright, shiny bubble."

Later, after Erivo's Elphaba Thropp tells Grande's Glinda Upland, "We can't let 'good' just be a word, it has to change things," the Emmy, Grammy, and Tony-winner's new song bursts into the medley.

"There's no place like home," she sings with somber resignation, echoing Judy Garland's famous incantation from *The Wizard of Oz*, the inspiration for the 1995 novel by Gregory Maguire, which was in turn adapted into the stage musical.

*Wicked *and *Wicked: For Good *director Jon M. Chu announced the new compositions from original musical composer and songwriter Stephen Schwartz in September.

"They're questioning, 'What is home? And what happens when you are fighting for a home that you realize doesn't even want you there, or was never meant for you,'" Chu told * *at the time, adding that where Grande's new song is concerned, "Glinda is the one that has to ultimately pop her own bubble... She has to leave her privilege to actually see other people's struggles and fight for justice and equality."

Chu clarified that the songs don't attempt to update the 2003 musical's message or meaning for our contemporary moment. They're instead "timeless," he insisted. "They ask us elemental questions of being human, not just the great parts — the celebratory, joyful parts of being human — but the scary, dark parts that test us."****

*Wicked: For Good *catches up with Elphaba and Glinda after the dramatic conclusion of 2024's *Wicked*, which sees the seemingly inseparable best friends ripped apart by the revelation of corruption in Oz.

Having ascended (or descended, depending on how you view it) to the notorious titles of Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good, Erivo and Grande's characters must navigate an even more fraught interpersonal dynamic while a kingdom-wide manhunt is sent out for Elphaba. Not to mention, the climactic arrival of Dorothy (as glimpsed in the film's first trailer), who will change Oz forever.

*Wicked: For Good* premieres on Nov. 21.
